Once a Spanish ranch where lima beans were grown, Beverly Hills was incorporated in 1914 by a group of investors who had failed to find oil, but found water instead. Hollywood “types” moved to the area during the turn of the century. By 1921, “Pickfair” mansion was completed. The glamour associated with “Pickfair” along with many other mansions in the area contributed to the Beverly Hills appeal. Through the years, many changes occurred in making Beverly Hills its “own” city.
Today, Beverly Hills is home to world class shopping, Rodeo Drive, among others, top rated public and private schools, beautiful homes, restaurants and so much more. It is a world class travel destination, as well as a vacation spot for many entertainment stars, business owners, foreign travelers, and so many others.
Beverly Hill is surrounded by the cities of Los Angeles and West Hollywood.
